Michael Grandage, who directed the original London and Broadway productions, directs the tour.

Starting at $50, tickets to Frost/Nixon go on sale Sunday, August 24 and are available at these authorized outlets; Hobby Center Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by calling (713) 629-3700 or online at www.BroadwayAcrossAmerica.com. Groups of 20 or more, call (888) 451-5986 or e-mail Jenna.Storey@BroadwayAcrossAmerica.com. Performances are Tuesday – Friday at 8 p.m.; Saturday at 2 p.m. & 8 p.m.; and Sunday at 2 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.

How was it that a famous British talk-show host with a playboy reputation was the one to elicit the apology the world was waiting to hear from former U.S. president Richard Nixon? This fast-paced new play shows the determination, conviction and lengths that these two men, and their closest confidantes, went to as they took the stage in one of the most hard-fought political interviews in history.

Frost/Nixon debuted in a sold-out run at London’s Donmar Warehouse before transferring to the West End, winning a 2007 Evening Standard Award. The show opened on Broadway in April 2007, and played a limited five-month engagement where it garnered Tony nominations for Best Play and Best Direction.

Critics in London and New York raved about the production. “A victory! Frost/Nixon is a nail-biting thriller with the zing of a comedy,” The New York Times enthused. The New York Post exclaimed that it’s “A prize fight you watch with the kind of fascinated delight rare in the theater.” And The Philadelphia Inquirer said “Morgan’s arresting play captures the moment, the era – and the audience. By aiming its stage lights on the two men, Frost/Nixon illuminates history. In the process, we are brighter.”

Frost/Nixon is Peter Morgan’s first stage play and was developed with Matthew Byam Shaw. He received the Best Screenplay Award at the 2006 Venice Film Festival for The Queen starring Helen Mirren and Michael Sheen. The Queen also earned Morgan Golden Globe, New York Film Critics, Los Angeles Film Critics and British Independent Film Awards and an Oscar nomination for his screenplay. His other film work includes The Last King of Scotland, which earned Morgan a British Independent Film Award nomination. Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence, and The Other Boleyn Girl with Scarlett Johansson. His film Longford is currently in rotation on HBO.

Designs for Frost/Nixon are by Christopher Oram, with lighting by Neil Austin, and the music & sound score by Adam Cork. Video design is by Jon Driscoll.

Theatre Under The Stars Presents "Les Miserables" For The First Time Ever, March 24 – April 5, 2009!

HOUSTON, TEXAS…Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) is thrilled to announce the addition of LES MISERABLES to its 41st season lineup! Les Miserables, one of the most famous Broadway shows of all time, will take the place of the previously scheduled Meet Me In St. Louis. Les Miserables plays for two weeks, March 24 - April 5, 2009 at The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Houston.
TUTS is one of a select few theatre companies licensed to produce this show until the rights become available again in 2013.

Set in early 19th century France, LES MISERABLES is the tale of reformed convict Jean Valjean, who conceals his true identity in hopes of forging a new life, Inspector Javert who relentlessly pursues him, and Fantine, the single working mother forced into prostitution to provide for her daughter Cosette. Written by the French composer Claude-Michel Schonberg and Librettist Alain Boublil in 1980, and based on the 1862 novel by Victor Hugo, Les Miserables is one of the most performed musicals world-wide and has been translated into 21 different languages. Among the most famous songs of this Tony Award-winning musical are "Master of the House," "On My Own," and "I Dreamed a Dream."

“LES MISERABLES is one of the finest modern musicals and is a show our patrons have requested many, many times,” said TUTS’ President and CEO John Breckenridge. After much work to acquire the rights, Theatre Under The Stars was afforded a brief nine month window in which to produce the show. “We’re thrilled to have this opportunity. In order to lock in Les Miserables we needed to reposition another show,” Breckenridge reported. Meet Me In St Louis will be rescheduled for an upcoming season so patrons will not miss out on the opportunity to see this great, classic musical in the near future. Les Miserables had a Broadway run of over 16 years and Theatre Under The Stars is elated to provide one of the most celebrated and longest running musicals of all time.

Beginning Sunday, November 23rd, single tickets for TUTS’ production of LES MISERABLES ($32-$80) are available to the public by phone at (713) 558-8887 or outside the Houston area at (888) 558-3882; or in person at the Theatre Under The Stars Box Office, (800 Bagby at Walker, Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, Sat-Sun 11am-4pm); or on-line at www.tuts.com. An audio described performance is available April 5th at 2 pm.; open captioning April 5 th at 7:30 pm. Stern and music and lyrics by multi-award winner Stephen Schwartz, Disney’s Geppetto & Son features some of the most unforgettable and treasured music from Disney’s “Pinocchio.” Playing September 11-13 in Zilkha Hall at the Hobby Center, Disney’s Geppetto & Son features TUTS’ Associate Artistic Director Roy Hamlin serving as director and TUTS’ Shay Rodgers as choreographer.

Combining the much-loved characters of the classic Disney cartoon “Pinocchio” (along with its familiar song hits “When You Wish Upon A Star” and “Got No Strings”) with the popular Drew Carey television film “Geppetto,” this new take pulls a few fresh strings for the most famous puppet in the world. With careful guidance by the film’s composer, Stephen Schwartz, Disney’s Geppetto & Son pairs the modern sensibility of Schwartz’s Wicked with the traditional storybook tale for a fun and fresh result. Following ACT@TUTS’ Southwest Regional Premiere, Music Theatre International will be licensing this newly-developed stage version.

The adventurous and heartwarming musical features unforgettable music and lyrics by Academy, Grammy and Tony Award-winning Schwartz, best known for his songs for the stage including Wicked, Godspell, and Pippin as well as his lyrics in the popular Disney films “Pocahontas,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” and “The Prince of Egypt.”

Joining Schwartz on the creative team is Stern, whose Broadway credits include Miss Saigon, Nick & Nora and Big. In addition to his numerous Broadway credits, Stern wrote the television movie “Geppetto” for The Wonderful World of Disney and worked on numerous feature films, including “The Muppets Return,” “Wish,” and “Gettysburgville.” Currently, Stern is writing “The Magic Brush” for Miramax and “Betting the Farm” for Sony Pictures Animation, as well as a television series, “Omega Dome” for Fox Sports.

In September 2007, ACT@TUTS students had the privilege of working with Schwartz when they presented The Stephen Schwartz Project, a musical revue of unforgettable songs, honoring Schwartz as one of Broadway’s most successful composers and lyricists of all time. ACT@TUTS students were thrilled when Schwartz attended their September 22 performance and praised the production.
